Who am I?
Following a career in the computer industry I retired at age 55 and commenced studies in the fitness industry.
I had been fortunate to discover Pilates 15 years before my retirement from the workforce.
Practising Pilates had aided in my recovery from back problems following a car accident and a horse riding accident.
Pilates also aided in a quicker recovery from shoulder surgery.
With a growing interest in the anatomy, I gained qualifications in the following:
- Diploma in Remedial Massage
- Master in Personal Training
- Diploma in Pilates Instruction (Rehabilitation)
- Pilates Instruction in Rehabilitation requires 100 hours of lectures, 300 hours of practice & observation.
- The exam is 3 hours and has an 80% pass mark
I recently complete a Certificate in Rehab Trainer Essentials. Also I have undertaken further studies in 'Exercise and nutrition for Type 2 diabetes and 'Abdominal strength for every female client'.
My actual work experience has been building over the years as a relief Pilates instructor for Blackwood Recreation Centre, Coromandel Community Centre and Adelaide Hills Pilates at the Coromandel Baptist Church.
I have enjoyed instructing, since 2010, including my own Pilates / Fitness classes at the CFS Cherry Gardens.
Since February 2015 I instruct a group at the Belair Uniting Church. The popularity of the Monday class has lead to a second class now on Fridays.
I feel fortunate that through the Pilates instruction I have met and enjoyed the comradeship of some wonderful people.
